I’m a lifelong word nerd.
Originally from the west coast, I now freelance from my office in New Philadelphia, OH.
As a military brat, I’ve resided in and visited much of the world. After developing an early love of journaling my experiences and a fascination with various cultures and world history, I set myself on a path to working with primary sources and words through a BA (summa cum laude) in history. Through the shrewd research and writing required of me, I came to appreciate the difficulty of writing and the hard work that goes into creating a narrative and reading about experiences and thoughts through someone else’s eyes.
A door opened to me in the form of an available position for a government contractor in background investigations. I used my research and writing skills to prepare investigative reports in compliance with federal standards, laws, and regulations.
I also successfully and regularly engaged in dialogue with federal contractors, US government organizations, private employers, and law enforcement agencies to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
After ten years of service, my husband decided to leave the US Air Force, and we bought a house in his home state of OH. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a significant investigation dip, my company could not transfer me to a new location to continue employment. This is when I discovered freelance proofreading and thought it was the perfect fit for my knowledge and skills.
Aside from work, my passions include:
- Reading historical fiction (a favorite is The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles).
- Acrylic painting.
- Gardening.
- Spending time with my husband and our dachshund and pit bull.
